Oh My

Thalius is a Stockholm-based AI company building Hippocampus, a memory layer for company documents. It works as a more efficient RAG for AI models like Claude: with a larger memory, it can point faster and more precisely to the right answer, and nothing gets forgotten after a long conversation.

Challenge

The strength of Hippocampus is search, yet in the old interface search was separate and hidden. To ask a question you first had to find it, and then set up which folders to search in from there. The very thing that makes the product valuable was the hardest part to reach, so we decided early to prioritise search above everything else.

Solution

The concept is that the chat follows you through the whole experience. It is always there, and its search scope follows where you navigate: open a folder and the chat searches in that folder, with no separate settings to manage. Around it I designed a side menu, a calmer start page and folder views as a list, a grid or a graph of how documents connect. The flow was built in Figma and tested with a small group of beta users, in light and dark mode, on desktop and mobile.
